God, Humans and Science

An Online Semester In Nirma University

After long years of people trying to keep criminals and animals in the cage, there comes COVID-19, a classy but harsh statement by nature to the humans that "Nature will always be superior, so just stop making efforts to be God." Millions of people died, Organizations failed, Democracy collapsed, and Millions came into the situation of Do or Die. Among all this, people started accepting techniques of work from home, study from home through online means.

I am currently pursuing B.Tech in CSE at Nirma University, Ahmedabad. Presently in 3rd year and just completed the 5th semester through online mode. So not wasting much of your time, let's cover-up this sem in a single line. "We had 24 Quizzes, 11 Assignments, 10 Vivas, 5 End Sem Exams, 3 projects, and 1 Term Paper, making a total of 54 tasks in 5.5 months, which means you get an average 3 days to complete a single task."

Quite Amazing, right! The problem is not that we passed the Sem or we went through this. But the actual problem is what did we conclude from this. The answer is pretty simple, "Nothing". It was like we were in a war of 5.5 months with 240 others, in which 15 to 20 people were doing some productive work, and the rest were just surviving till the end of the war. Quite funny! Teachers assumed we were at home the whole 24 hours, so we have got so much time to do it, and also we were with our family that makes us happy and easy to do the work. But the scenario was completely different, the lectures were from 9 to 4 with a 1-hour break in between, which means 6 hours of laptop screen time. No matter you studied or not, but you were in front of a screen for those 6 hours, which exhausted you, and made you bored. And you would not like to do that for the rest of your day. But considering the tasks, we had to sit for more and more hours, doing things and getting things done, which proportionally lead to no time to spend with family and also a decrease in the discussion and talks with friends. So lonely, right!

Considering all facts, we just tried to contact the authorities and faculties about the problem. But the result was they heard us, and in solution, they tried to convince us that this was the decision of upper authorities and we will follow it(without considering the result). This semester was not just hectic for us, but the same situation was with the facilities too, with lots of loads. But I think the main cause of this was they tried to implement online semester the same way as it used to be for offline. And fearing that students will copy, they kept on taking tests and giving assignments every other day. And in all this, they forgot to focus on understanding, knowledge delivery, and burden on students as well as faculties.

I also came to know that Departments discusses the changes or improvement that should be done, with the students that get good placements or good jobs. This makes me feel like asking Ambani whether he is happy with his home. Also, the involvement of the University in cultural and sports part is too much less, cause they feel like it's natural and not academic, etc. I do not say it's wrong, but it's like we have followed these systems for a long time, and thinking about any change is giving a spark of fear about "What if we will not be successful?". This situation proves why Fear of Change is an important topic in Organizational Behaviour. We cannot change the system too quickly, cause the bigger the tree, the deeper are the roots.

Well, this was my opinion and I always feel like everyone sees a situation from a different perspective, and each perspective has its importance. And I think management is gonna do great next Semester, forgetting the past. If you wanna share your thoughts on this or your college, the comment section is all for you, my friends.

God, Humans and Science

"GOD" Ummm. What is that? Who is he/she/it? Maybe someone immortal, a pure soul, or someone who manages everything. But for me, God is my best friend because, after my mom dad, God is the only one who listens to all my problems and achievements without any expectations. A kind of silent supporter holding your hand from the back and helping you be better each day. I don't know from where these Religions came into existence. Although I have read blogs and watched documentaries about it, it seems like a story at last. I do believe that reaching a particular state is the ultimate goal of life. You may call it "divine soul" or "Moksha(In Hindi)". And for reaching that place, choosing the proper path is the most important thing. Suppose there are 100 paths in front of you and from that only '5' will help you reach your destination. And a person comes and tells you to go a particular path, which will lead you to your destination. Then it's our h...

Why are Tattoos Permanent?

Human skin has 3 layers namely Epidermis, Dermis, and Hypodermis (top to bottom). Each layer is made of completely different types of tissues, which is the main specialty of our skin. The Epidermis is made up of Epithelial Tissue which is an average of 50 cell layers thick and usually every week some new layers get added below and due to lack of blood reachability, the upper layers fade away or say die. The Dermis layer which is the second layer is made up of Dense Irregular Connective Tissue . This is basically the layer where the ink is deposited and lasts for years. This layer has got Fibrocytes(cells) which produce protein fiber called Collagen . Also, this layer has all other stuff like nerve endings, blood vessels, hair follicles, etc. Now when a foreign substance (ink) enters this layer, a process of inflammation starts due to which white blood cells get to the site of ink. Usually, white blood cells digest or break down the foreign substance that comes in like viruses, bact...

The Mysterious Religion

Among various topics, " Religion " has always somehow been on top of all controversial topics. Talking about religion or challenging some thoughts of a religion is one of the hardest things to fight in the world. We do not know why, what, how, when about any religious activities performed in the name of religion. Still, we come across people who are ready to kill other people just in the name of religion and proving their superiority. Well, I was not alive when all these religions were established or say came into existence. But recently in India, we have come across an establishment of a new religion, " The Modi Religion ". The God of this religion is none other than our Honourable PM Modiji, and he also has his prophets holding the positions of CM and Ministers. Every religion has people who believe in it, known as " Bhakts ", and yea people believing in this religion are called " Andh-Bhakts ". Oh, Don't you believe me? Come on, let's...
